Kate also has in-house patent agent experience working in -house in the legal department of life sciences firm advising patent filings and prosecution strategies.
Prior to her law firm and in-house work, Kate spent eight years working at Microbiotix Inc., Worcester, Massachusetts, as a research scientist developing novel chemical agents against a wide range of disease-causing bacteria (e.g., Acinetobacter baumannii), viruses (e.g., Ebola) and parasites (e.g., malaria). Before that, she worked for Pfizer Inc., in itsGroton, Connecticut location, for two years as a senior research associate building libraries of new antibacterial drug analogs against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Kate is a co-author of more than ten scientific articles published in such prestigious journals as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and the Journal of Physical Chemistry. Kate obtained her license to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office while working at Microbiotix,
